Voices live in every finite being,
Often undivined, near silence.
Hear them!
Hear them in you! in others!
They sense truth deep in all life;
They know the things true Pilgrims stand for.
Stand out!
Come to Him without the things the world brings;
Come to Him!
As a child and as a poor man.
He had all. He gave all.

Thies Farm

Several weeks ago a friend of mine invited Charlie and I to join her and her daughter for a pic-nic at a local farm. Every year the farm decorates with hundreds of pumpkins and haystacks, sets up a maze through cornstalks, and generally creates a pretty cool "Pumpkin Patch" play yard. Though it's really geared toward older kids (there were a number of elementary school classes field-tripping that day), our two still managed to have a good time...I think.

The hay definitely won over Mom and the camera.

I was impressed with the flexibility these two kiddos showed. They were happy no matter where we plopped them down.

My all time favorite moment, though, was watching the miniature cow in the petting zoo try to lick my friend's hair with its long pale tongue while she was tending to her daughter. It gave us both the willies, and still makes me laugh when I think about it.

  1. Looks like so much fun! Wish we could join you. By the way, I see a little more Courtney in Charlito lately...

  2. I love that he's so interested in things (like hay!). It was so cute in the video that he's just thrilled with his new abilities (like rocking back and forth). "Oh that we were there..."
